The BÄR principle: 100% toe freedom

Why do you experience a completely new, natural walking sensation in BÄR shoes? Because they offer 100 percent toe freedom. This freedom brings you relaxation and comfort from the very first step. In BÄR shoes you walk as comfortably as barefoot. Because our shoes follow the natural shape of the foot.

The zero heel offers an innovative design solution in which the heel and ball of the foot are on the same level, which supports your rolling motion. The soles are designed to adapt to the natural movements of the foot, giving you a feeling of lightness when walking. This flexibility allows you to move freely and without restriction, whether you are walking, running or simply going about your everyday life. This has been the BÄR principle for over 40 years.

Christian Bär wanted to achieve precisely this effect over 40 years ago when he stated: “The shape must follow the foot.” By consistently implementing this idea, he became a pioneer of toe freedom in 1982. You can benefit from this today! Give your feet the space they need to give you more freedom.

My feet are worth it!

Our feet play a major role in our lives. After all, we spend between 25 and 57 percent of our lives on our feet. At BÄR, we understand how valuable and complex our feet are.

The foot consists of 26 bones, 100 ligaments hold them together and 20 muscles ensure movement and stability. This makes our feet a true masterpiece of nature, forming the foundation on which we stand. By the time we reach the age of 80, we will have walked around 170,000 km, which is roughly four times around the world. Is it not a matter of course to wear comfortable shoes? BÄR shoes not only impress with their foot-friendly shape, but also with their modern design. The shoes are based on the natural shape of our feet and offer 100% toe freedom. Complemented by the BÄR zero heel concept, a completely new walking sensation is created.

Dr. Eickelmann, a specialist in orthopaedics, agrees with our philosophy:

“Maximum toe freedom, combined with the flexibility of a barefoot shoe, encourages the foot to cooperate. This promotes muscle development and flexibility of the ligaments and tendons in the foot. The toes and heel area are on the same level in BÄR shoes, which leads to an even load on your foot: the anatomical balance of your spine prevents postural damage and prevents tension in your back, head and neck. The intervertebral discs are relieved and the joints are protected.”
